Paul Scholes has given a damning assessment of Manchester United ahead of the new season.

There is hope among United fans that they are in for a better season given the changes off the pitch, as well as the signings they are making on it.

United have so far signed Leny Yoro and Joshua Zirzkee, with the likes of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The Manchester United legend was a guest on The Overlap’s Fan Debate, brought to you by Sky Bet, and he admitted that he didn’t share the same excitement ahead of the new season that some of their supporters do.

Giving a five word verdict on the Red Devils, Scholes said: I’m struggling to get excited.’
