DALLAS — Airbnb is going back to its roots to cater to travelers who are growing more concerned with saving money.

The company said Wednesday that it’s rolling out a new Airbnb Rooms offering in which guests share space with the owner.

Airbnb says room prices will average $67 a night.

CEO Brian Chesky says it should be a popular alternative to renting a whole house right now, because the economy feels fragile.

Separately, the Airbnb CEO says the company is encouraging hosts not to burden guests with long checkout lists, some of which have turned into memes on social media.
