Darwin Nunez appeared to mock Marcus Rashford during Liverpool’s 7-0 thrashing of Manchester United on Sunday.
The Reds tore Erik ten Hag’s side apart in one of the Premier League’s most remarkable results of all-time thanks to six second half goals, after Cody Gakpo had put them one-up at half-time.
Liverpool’s new-look front-line of Nunez, Gakpo and Mohamed Salah all scored twice before Roberto Firmino netted a seventh late-on.
And Nunez – who has now scored eight Premier League goals this season following his £85m summer move from Benfica – seemed to ridicule United forward Rashford after his second goal.
As he wheeled away to celebrate his powerful header, the Uruguayan put his index finger to the side of his head – something that Rashford has become synonymous with during his superb run of form that has seen him score 17 times since the World Cup.

Nunez performed the celebration Rashford has become synonymous with over recent times
The celebration has been adopted globally with tennis star Novak Djokovic, England cricketer Jofra Archer, along with United team-mate Jadon Sancho and Arsenal star Bukayo Saka all having been spotted performing the gesture in recent times.
Nunez’s celebration of Liverpool’s fifth goal by taking on the trademark move of the England forward came amid Rashford’s personal struggles in the game.
