‘We deserve the victory

Speaking to Sky Sport’s, Chelse boss Mauricio Pochettino reflected on the Blue’s 3-2 win against Brighton: ‘We deserve the victory because when you analyse the game we played the game in every period that the game expects of us. We were very competitive.

‘It was an important victory for us because after Newcastle we needed to show a different face and the team’s response was really good.’

Adding on Gallagher’s sending off, he said: ‘I told the players at half-time that this was a massive opportunity for us and a massive challenge to show that we are a real team. That was how we took the second half.’

Liverpool’s growing injury list

On his 150th Premier League appearance, Joel Matip left the field in the second half wth what looked like a soft tissue injury.

After the game, Jurgen Klopp raised alarm bells claiming that his absence ‘will not be a short one.’
