Southampton have rejected Liverpool’s improved bid of £41m plus add ons for midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to Sky Sports.

The Saints have remained unmoved in their assessment of the 19-year-old, who they value at £50m.

Jurgen Klopp’s side had come back to their negotiating table on Tuesday following the rejection of their initial £37m bid last week.

But the quick rebuttal of their second offer has raised doubts on the potential of a deal ever being struck, with Sky Sports claiming the Reds are teeing up a move for Fluminense’s Andre as an alternative.

The 22-year-old Brazilian has played 144 games for the Serie A side after breaking into the senior squad in 2020. The holding midfielder made his debut for the Selecao in a 4-2 friendly defeat to Senegal in June.
