Legendary Italian styling house Pininfarina has launched a new £3million limited edition 217mph electric supercar to honour an F1 racing pioneer – and only five will be built.
Automobili Pininfarina’s new zero-emissions Battista Edizione Nino Farina makes its dynamic world premiere at this week’s Goodwood Festival of Speed which runs from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 July.
It celebrates the racing career of the first ever F1 World Champion Nino Farina, nephew of design icon and Pininfarina company founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.
And it also fires the starting gun for a blitz of new future models to be showcased in the coming months.

The Battista Edizione Nino Farina will be piloted up the famous Goodwood Hill by former F1 star and hill-climb record holder Nick Heidfeld, nicknamed ‘Quick Nick’ for his speedy exploits, who has also played a key role in Battista development.
Dubbed a ‘hyper GT’, it is the second limited design edition in the Pininfarina Battista range and follows that of the Battista Anniversario. And each one costs around £1million more than the ‘standard’ Battista.
Each of the five Edizione Nino Farina cars features an ‘unmistakable’ exterior design including Rosso Nino paint with contrasting white Bianco Sestriere and blue Iconica Blu finishes, special Glorioso Gold alloy wheels and exquisite detailing including an eye-catching ’01’ body side graphic which is painted and not stuck on.

Each will also feature a unique aluminium door plate celebrating one of five outstanding landmarks in Nino Farina’s life and motor racing career, including his birth and first F1 pole position and race victory.
Propelled by four electric motors – one for each wheel – and a 120kWh battery, the 1,900 horsepower (1,400kW) all-wheel drive supercar accelerates at a blistering pace from 0 to 62mph in just 1.86 seconds , up to 124mph in 4.75 seconds and 186mph in under 12 seconds – with a top speed of more than 217mph.
The firm said: ‘Its launch control technology contributes to Formula One car-beating acceleration’.
And for that its powerful brakes will bring it from 62mph to rest in in just 31 metres, which Pininfarina says makes it officially ‘the fastest braking EV in the world’.
Its range is 296 miles which will take it from London to just short of Newcastle.
The T-shaped liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack lies in the centre tunnel and behind seats to ensure a low centre of gravity and boost handling and performance.

There are five driving modes: Calma (Calm), Pura (Pure), Energica (Energetic), Furiosa (Furious), and Carattere (Character).
Inside, the bespoke two-tone interior features include a driver’s seat finished in black sustainable leather and a contrasting passenger seat in beige leather, both with black Alcantara trim and exclusive ‘Nino Farina’ inscriptions.
Automobili Pininfarina said of its latest Battista Edizione Nino Farina model: ‘It represents the fascinating story of F1 racing legend Nino Farina, the first ever F1 World Champion and nephew of design icon Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina.
‘Fittingly, it will make its dynamic debut just a few hundred metres from the Goodwood Circuit, where Nino drove to victory in the 1951 Goodwood Trophy – a non-championship F1 Race’.
